Over time, fibroblast activity slows, leading to a reduction of these fibers. With fewer fibers to support the skin, sagging results. Just like when a mattress loses its support, it begins to sag. In addition to sagging, fewer collagen and elastin fibers also result in loss of elasticity and radiance, and excessive dryness.
